John Kent Obituary

John Roger Kent of Yardley, peacefully passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne surrounded by his loving family, he was 86 years young.John was born in Rockaway, NY, the son of the late Newton D. and Helen B. Kent. John was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Woodmere, NY and a very proud Alumnus of Cornell University class of 1948. A World War II era veteran, he continued the family's unbroken service to the country that dated back to the Revolutionary war. He married Lillian (Dedi) Houldsworth in 1957, who preceded him in death in 2002. John retired from Johnson & Johnson in 1992. A founding member at the Society of Plastics Engineers, he was responsible for innovation in the plastics molding industry and held several patents. An avid sports car enthusiast, he was a 55 year member and former officer of the Porsche Club of America. He enjoyed exhibiting his one of a kind 1964 Porsche 356c, of which he was the original owner, at regional and national events as recently as August of 2013 at the New Hope Auto Show. John was also an active member of the Church of the Incarnation and their vestry. In 2005 John married Phyllis Romig of Yardley. They enjoyed traveling, going to the theatre and symphony and spending time with family and friends. John leaves his children, Capt. James Kent USN Ret. (Dena), Steven (Becky) Lynda Romig Bond (Richard), David Romig (Barbara), William Romig (Ginger), Donald Romig (Maureen); his grandchildren, Kevin and Chris McCormick, John and Eleanor Kent, Dr. Andrew Bond(Dr. Christine Liang), Matthew Bond, Peter Bond (Tamara Nisic), Brian Romig (Alicia), Devon Romig Brooks (Ben), Grant Romig, Jennifer Romig, Sarah Romig Farrell (Christopher), Laura Romig and Shannon Romig; his four great-grandchildren, Kaylee McCormick, Christopher McCormick, Jr, Seamus Farrell and Boaz Brooks; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family and will be announced at a later date.
