AVON LAKE - Andrew P. Jaroscak, 88 of Avon Lake passed away Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Jaroscak was born July 3, 1923 in Lakewood, Ohio the son of the late Jakob and Mary Jaroscak (nee Klima). Andrew served in the Navy during World War II as a gunner on the U.S.S. Iowa from the time it left the Brooklyn Naval Yard until the end of the war in Japan. He was employed as a welder and later as a supervisor with Danco Metal Products before retiring. He was a former member of the Clifton American Legion Post. Andrew enjoyed carpentry having built his own home and also the family vacation home at Buckhorn Lake where he and his family enjoyed getting away for many years. He also was an avid gardener.
Mr. Jaroscak is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly A. (nee Horwedel); three children, Mark (Arlene) of Avon Lake; Bryan (Deborah) of Sheffield Village; and Diana Curtis (Edward) of Bay Village; three grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Sean and three great-grandchildren, Katie, James and Quinn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother John.
Memorial Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 31 at Christian Heritage Assembly of God, 36465 Chester Road, Avon. Memorials may be forwarded to the Alzheimer's Association, 23215 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 300, Beachwood, OH 44122 or to the Day Away Program in care of the Wesleyan Village, 807 West Ave. Elyria, OH 44035.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We can understand how your hearts feel, especially since we lost our Mom (Peggy). I often think of the huge snow pile that Andy made into a sled run in the backyard of your old house. Treasure your memories, they are priceless.
