Michael O'Leary Obituary

SHEFFIELD LAKE - Michael Joseph O'Leary, 67 years of age, and a resident of Sheffield Lake, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy battle with heart disease.
He was born April 5, 1945 in Berea, Ohio. Michael had lived most of his life in Sheffield Lake, except for a brief time where he lived in Avon Lake and Lorain. He attended Brookside High School in Sheffield Lake. Michael proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed at US Steel for 40 years before retiring as a manager in the blast furnace. His hobbies included golfing and racing his 1965 Pontiac GTO at Norwalk Speedway. Above all other things Michael loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughters Colleen "Kelly" O'Leary of Chicago, Illinois, Heather O'Leary of Lorain, Lindsay "Miki" O'Leary of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his sisters Maryann O'Leary of Vermilion, Irene "Cookie" Schmidt of Florida and his loving companion of twenty-six years Ingrid Kwallek of North Olmsted; as well as nephews, nieces and great nephews, nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Loretta Pittock, Evelyn Labus, Delorus O'Leary, Virginia Pyrda Kieryk and Laverne Rankin; brother Jerry Szeto; his father Michael John O'Leary and his mother Flora O'Leary (nee: Baldwin) who died during his infancy and his mother Irene O'Leary - Szeto
Services will be held privately by the family.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to New Life Hospice; 5255 North Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
