Karl E. Wicker
Arma - Karl E. Wicker, 86, of Arma, Kansas died at 4:06 A.M. Monday, December 14, 2020 at the Arma Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arma, Kansas.
Mr. Wicker was born April 22, 1934 at Chicago, Illinois the son of Hollie and Gertrude Andrews Wicker. Karl was a retired pattern maker and was a longtime Arma resident. He was raised in Chicago and attended Chicago Schools. He worked for Bell and Gosset Industries in Illinois prior to moving to Kansas and working for McNally's Manufacturing in Pittsburg. He later started A-1 Pattern and Model Company in Arma and ran the business until retiring. He served as Mayor and Councilman in Arma and was a long time Fire Chief for the City of Arma and Crawford County Fire District #2. He also served as Treasurer for Washington Township for many years. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and visiting with his many friends. He married Barbara J. Dalton on July 6, 1954 at Girard, Kansas. Mrs. Wicker preceded him in death March 2, 2019. Survivors include three daughters, Vicki (Jim) Lobile, Cheryl (Joe) Hartzfeld, and Bobbi (Duane) Fleury all of Arma, a son, Dale Wicker of Arma, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara, two infant sons, John and Joseph Wicker who died at birth, a grandson, Greg Broyles, and a brother, Hollie Wicker Jr.
The family wishes to thank the Arma Health and Rehabilitation Center for the the wonderful care given to our Father during his stay at the nursing home.
Mr. Wicker has been cremated according to his wishes. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the McGonigal Cemetery in rural Arcadia. Friends may call 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. Wednesday December 16, 2020 at the Bedene Funeral Home in Arma to sign the registar book and make a memorial if desired. The family suggest memorials to the Northeast Grade School PTO or the Arma Health and Rehabilitation Activity Fund. The family requests no food offerings or visitors at their homes but suggests cards of sympathy instead due to the Covid pandemic. Donations may be sent to or left at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, Kansas 66712.
