Jo Bryant Obituary

Jo Bryant, formerly of McAllen, Texas, and a resident of Midland for the last 16 years, passed away on January 20, 2017. She was born in Port Neches to Charlie and Mamie Tippen and was known to most people as 'JoJo.' She had a long career working as a bookkeeper, but also liked helping her dear friends Salli and Joe Serviere prepare for estate sales in McAllen. She also volunteered countless hours at Bonham Elementary in Midland. JoJo was married for 68 years to Dale and they raised four children. They were the loving core of the family and will be missed so much by family and friends. JoJo was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Dale Bryant; her parents; her second mom, Laura Mae Keith; and by two siblings, Mary Whitsitt and Charles H. Bishop. She is survived by a brother, Charles Ray (Verian) Tippen; daughters, Pam (Terry) Collins of Katy, Texas, Chellye (Scott) Tanberg and Kim Moore of Midland; and niece, Kathy Whitsitt Egbert who JoJo always considered a daughter; a son, Michael Dale (Nancy) Bryant of McAllen; and grandchildren Erin (Mike) Lloyd, Marc Tanberg, Lara Jayne (Todd) Perry, Krystal Moore, Robyn (Ryan) Ramos, and Jennifer Bryant. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Bryant Perry and Caleb Lloyd. JoJo was a wonderful example of love and kindness. Her grandchildren describe her as brave, spunky, creative, fun-loving and both sweet and feisty. The family would like to express their gratitude to doctors Padmaja Patel, Melissa Alworth, Ashutosh Rastogi, Daniel Copeland, and to Health South, Manor Park Mabee Center, and Home Hospice for their wisdom and kindness. A special thank you to Christine Beebe for her compassion and tender care of JoJo. The family will have services at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home at a later date. If you would like to make a charitable contribution in Jo Bryant's honor, please consider Home Hospice at 200 W. Illinois, Ste 190, in Midland 79701. The service they provide is immeasurable.
