Robert Taylor Obituary

Mr. Robert Owen "Bob" Taylor, 82, passed away on January 11, 2017, at Pruitt Health in Elkin. Bob was born on September 5, 1934, in Philadelphia, PA, to Norman and Margaret Sharp Taylor. Bob obtained a Master's degree from Clemson University. He was retired from Wayne Farms. Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Dobson Lions Club. For a number of years he coached Little League Baseball and Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Lydia Dietrich Taylor, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Dale McNeely of Statesville; son, Joel Taylor and friend Amanda Graham, both of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Sarah Margaret "Maggie" McNeely and Mason Crawford McNeely; a brother, Richard A. Taylor and wife, Ellen of Greencastle, IN; nephews, John and Joy Taylor of Greencastle, IN, Bill and Margie Taylor, David and Merdedes Taylor of Carmel, IN; and a first cousin, Donald Sharp of Evergreen, CO. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 326 N. Main St. in Mount Airy at 2:00 PM on Saturday January 14, 2017. Memorial service will be conducted by Reverend Griff Gatewood. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday evening. The family wishes to thank the 4th floor Staff at Northern Surry Hospital, Hugh Chatham Hospital and Pruitt Health for the excellent and compassionate care he received. Memorials can be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC, 27017. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com
