AGE: 82 • Hallandale Beach, FL and Lakewood, NJ
William Meltzer, 82 of Hallandale Beach, FL and Lakewood, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Hallandale Beach, Florida. He was born July 5, 1932 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He grew up in Highland Park before enlisting in the Navy where he served for five years. He operated the family business, Park Roofing and Sheet Metal Company until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Van Deursen and their three children, Karen and her husband Ken Pannone and their two children, Kyle and Kevin of Cranbury, NJ, Lauren Meltzer of Freehold, NJ and Craig and his wife Marija and their three children, Lilijana, Ivan and Sofia of Old Bridge, NJ. He is survived also by a sister, Shirley Galik of Monroe, NJ.
Through his passion of thoroughbred horse racing, they created life long friends in New Jersey and Florida. Although Bill struggled many years with Multiple Sclerosis, he lived a full life with no regrets. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A funeral service was held on March 12, 2015 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and there will be a Memorial Service held in New Jersey with the date to be announced.
