Germaine Murray Obituary

MURRAY The Memorial Service for Germaine "Jimmie" Labadie Murray will be held at 8:00 am Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland, Oregon. Inurnment will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland, OR. Mrs. Murray, age 95, of Ashland, OR died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at home. She was born June 15, 1913 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Rose and Rene Labadie. As a young woman she worked for several years for the Postal Telegraph in New Orleans. On May 13, 1939 in New Orleans she married Homer James Murray, who preceded her in death. In New Jersey she worked for the Prentice Hall Publishing Company for 15 years as an accounts adjuster and returned to New Orleans in 1969. She worked for Loyola University for 24 years, retiring at age 81. She lived in Santa Rosa, California from 1994 to 2003 when she moved to Ashland. Mrs. Murray was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and for the last four years enjoyed classes at OLLI. Surviving are: a son, Daniel R. and his wife Sue Murray of Arizona; two daughters: Elaine M. and her husband, Wayne Hamlin of Ashland, Oregon, and Mary Judith M. and her husband, Gustavo Corazon of New Mexico; two sisters: Denise L. and her husband, Leonard Doussan of Louisiana, and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her sister, Odette L. and her husband, Gordon Holcombe also of Louisiana. Memorials may be made to any chapter of The St. Vincent de Paul Society. Arrangements: Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland, OR.
