Mary and Edgar visited with my Mom, Leona Franz Lash, and my Dad many times.
My grandmother was Mary Dirnel Franz who was married to Josef Franz, who was a brother to your grandfather. You may have heard of uncle Louie.

Mary has been a lifelong friend of my family, from the time she and Edgar arrived in Jacksonville in the mid-1960s. There have been so many ways in which Mary has helped us over the decades. We will miss her, and we offer our sincere condolences to her family.

I met Mary through Morgan County Right to Life. What a treasure she was in the fight for the rights of the unborn children. Her husband Edgar was my calculus prof in 1970-1971. I consider it an honor to have known them both. Peace and prayers to all the family, from Ed(Connie) Johnson family.

I remember her emanating good-natured wit as she wheeled around the Art fair or sat as a work of art in the Eclectic. What an awesome, successful life!

Mary was enthusiastic in welcoming me into into the "IC Family" in 1974. She cared about all the people she met. She had strong views (which didn't always match mine) but we were still able to be friends. My sincere sympathy to each and every member of the family for a loss that will leave a void in all your lives.

To all my Jacksonville cousins,
What a truly wonderful person Aunt Mary was;how talented, animated and especially how uniquely compassionate. Being a person who throws everything away, I regret discarding the long, loving and insightful letters my Aunt Mary sent to me over the years. I would cherish re-reading them now. God blessed all who had the good fortune to be a part of Mary's life.

What a joy to have known Mary! (and Edgar!) My life is richer for knowing these two delightful people through Explorer's Bible Study over many years. Mary was especially encouraging as I sought to faithfully explain God's word for students each week. She was a sincere disciple of Jesus. I will miss her. I give my sincere condolences to family members.
