Orval Fanshier Obituary

Orval Monroe Fanshier Jr.
Versailles - Orval Monroe Fanshier Jr., 81, of Versailles, IL, passed away Oct. 10, 2021, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1940, at the family home in Meredosia, the son of Orval M. Fanshier Sr. and Jennie M. McDannald Fanshier. He had celebrated sixty-one years of marriage with Linda Lee Ingram, whom he married on Feb. 3, 1961, in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by his five children, Lisa (Gerald) Klopfer of Springfield, Lori Wilby of Pittsfield, Judy Fanshier of Versailles, Rick Fanshier of Chambersburg, and Anthony (Nicole) Fanshier of Timewell; twelve grandchildren, Kristofer Kunzeman, Derek Klopfer (Kati Griffith), Marlee (Aramis) Vicente, Paul Wilby, Devin (Brent) Parquette, Brooke Wilby (fiancé Bryce Reel), Joy, Caleb, and Connor Klopfer, Gunnar, Easton, and Hailey Fanshier; six great grandchildren, Annabel Kunzeman, Dawson Goewey, Kaedyn Wilby, Zelie and Ninabelle Parquette, and Aramis Vicente; and five brothers and one sister, Gary Fanshier of Meredosia, Dean (Lois) Fanshier of Versailles, James (Beverly) Fanshier of Meredosia, Donald (Linda) Fanshier of Meredosia, Frank (Gayle) Fanshier of Jacksonville, and Sherri (Michael) Shelton of Meredosia. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in-law, Tommy L. Kunzeman and Rick Wilby; and sister-in-law, Audrey Fanshier.
Mr. Fanshier worked at Wells-Lamon Glove Factory in Beardstown, Hurst Garage, and then retired from National Starch & Chemical in Meredosia after thirty years. Mr. Fanshier was a member of Gospel Tabernacle in Meredosia. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, and playing banjo with Cousin Arkie & the Stump Jumpers. Mr. Fanshier was a storyteller and prankster that enjoyed woodworking, oil painting, playing cards, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 18, 2021, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Meredosia, with burial at Oakland Cemetery. The family will meet friends 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to Gospel Tabernacle or the Senior Citizens Center in Versailles. Condolences may be left at buchanancody.com.

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers! I remember Jr working at Hurst garage across the street from were I grew up! I used to hang out there with Janet drinking soda! Seem like yesterday.... I remember Jr having dark curly/wavey hair and a big smile. I pray your memories of Jr. will help you through this difficult time!
