The Funeral will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 at St. John Freewill Baptist Church on St. John Rd. Aynor, SC 2:30PM. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Mr. Joseph Evans, Jr. was born and raised in Williamsburg county in the area of Salters,SC. He is the son of the late Joseph B. Evans, Sr. and Ada Tisdale Evans. Upon completing high school and then graduating from Benedict College, he and his wife made their home in Galivants Ferry, SC. Joseph met his beloved wife, Victoria (Vic) Rush Evans in college and they were united in holy matrimony for over 50 years. Joseph began his teaching career with Horry County Schools as a math teacher in the late 1960's at the old Whittemore High, Conway, SC and in the early 1970's he transferred to Aynor High School, Aynor, SC during the period of integration where he retired in 1991. His dedication to educating youth last for thirty years. Mr. Evans was a member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church in Galivants Ferry, SC. He leaves behind to continue to share his legacy and memories, his two devoted and dedicated, caregiver grandsons V. Evan and Anthony Mitchell, his five children, Anthony (Jackie) Evans, Antonio (Gabriela) Evans, Cheryl Evans (Calvin)Brown, Sabrina Evans (Daryl) Brown, Corey (Sakinah) Evans, and baby girl Keyara Carter along with his two other foster children, Candace (Anthony) Tubens and Durian Ross, a loving and caring sister, Marier (MH) Stapleton and brother Girard (Deloris) Evans, and several sisters and brothers in law. Joseph leaves fond memories with his grandchildren Antonio Evans, Jr. (Janeth), Daniel Evans, Victoria Brown Ward (Michael), Corey Evans, Jr., KaMari and Kaelyn Stanley, Zymire Thigpen, Iyanah, Ahsiah and Zuri Tubens, three great grandsons, Michael Elijah, Hendon and Isaac Ward, his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We extend our appreciation to the caregivers' team of Ardent Hospice & Palliative Care who are LaQuisha, Leann and Anita that played a major roll in caring for Mr. Evans.
