Bonnie Costello Obituary

SOCASTEE | Bonnie M. Costello, 61, of Socastee, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

A Myrtle Beach native, Bonnie was the daughter of the late Thelma McKnight Montgomery and the late Robert V. Montgomery.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 27 years, J.J. Costello; her son, Chris Cox of Murrells Inlet; her son, Jason Cox and his wife, Carol, of Myrtle Beach; her daughter, Brenna C. Brantly and her husband, Jay, of Myrtle Beach; her son, Jeffrey A. Costello of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; her daughter, Julie A. Kinard and her husband, Chuck, of Columbia; her sister, Betty Montgomery of Buffalo, N.Y.; her brother, John T. Montgomery of Myrtle Beach; and her grandchildren, Jonathan, Aaron, Melissa, and Dillon.

Bonnie was predeceased by her brother, Bobby F. Montgomery.

Bonnie was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother, and took great joy in spending time with her family. She was the owner of Bonnie's Gift Shop in Myrtle Beach for a decade. Although she did not serve in any branch of the armed services, she will forever be lovingly known to her husband, J.J., as the greatest drill sergeant in history. She enjoyed her girlfriends immensely, and was a proud founder of the Jettietts. Known for her sparkling personality and firecracker presence, it is only fitting that family and friends say, ''Goodbye for now,'' on Independence Day.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Surgical ICU at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for their loving care of Bonnie during her extended illness. The family would also like to thank everyone who has extended their support and condolences, as well as the Horry County Police Department for their unfaltering support.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2008 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, in Murrells Inlet. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at the funeral home.
