Daisy Saleh
September 30, 1937 - March 16, 2021
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - Daisy Kamel Saleh, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC, went home to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. She was at her son's residence in Concord, NC.
Daisy was born in Mansoura, Egypt to Kamel Hanna and Moufida Mikhail. She was the second of five children. After graduating from Mansoura Secondary School for Girls, where her father served as Headmaster, Daisy went on to study at Ain Shams University in Cairo graduating with distinction in 1958 with a BA in Sociology. It was during this time that she met and married William Takla and had her first child, Medhat. In the spring of 1960, William tragically passed away. Then, in November 1961, Daisy married Fikri S Saleh and the family moved to Cairo. The family welcomed daughter Mona in November 1962, and son, Mamdooh in September 1966. On August 23, 1969, they immigrated to the United States of America. After settling in Raleigh, NC where Fikri had an engineering firm and Daisy enjoyed working at the NC State University library, the family became United States citizens on September 11, 1974. In 1983, the family relocated to Myrtle Beach, SC where Daisy began her amazing 37-year career with Century-21 Broadhurst as a Real Estate agent on the Grand Strand. She was also very involved with her church family at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church and was one of the founding members who strived for many years to bring a Coptic Orthodox Church and Priest to Myrtle Beach.
Daisy enjoyed gardening, walking by the beach, traveling, cooking, visiting with friends, and attending church but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her large family. She could always be found in the kitchen, cooking, talking, and laughing joyously surrounded by loved ones. That contagious laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Although our hearts are saddened by our loss of Daisy, they are filled with joy with the memories of her and the knowledge that she is resting in her Heavenly Home.
Daisy leaves behind her son Medhat W. Takla and wife Lynn of Concord, NC; daughter Mona Saleh Boykin and husband Randy of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren Andrew, Jack and Julia Takla, Robert, Andrew, and Matthew Boykin; siblings: Violet Awadalla, and her husband Nessim, predeceased, Pancy Awadalla, and her husband Ramses, predeceased, Amir Hanna and his wife Wedad, and Samir Hanna; nieces and nephews: Amani Nessim, Magda Fahmy; Sameh, Mark, and Andrew Hanna; Mariam Gandour, Joy Demetrious, Mark Awadalla, Joseph Awadalla; Carol Awad, Christine Hanna and Jackie Hanna as well as many cherished friends and colleagues.
