Janet DuBois, beloved wife of George, passed away on May 2, 2013 at her home after a brief illness. Jan was born on December 6, 1932 to the late Carl and Grace (Smith) Ramstrom in Framingham Massachusetts. She spent her childhood in Sudbury MA and also lived in Fryeburg, Maine where she graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1951.
In 1954, Jan met her true love and life partner, George DuBois at Lake Mohonk in New Paltz, NY and they were married May 28, 1955. They began their life together in New York where they raised 3 children. She treasured her family and friends and brought life and laughter to everyone who was fortunate to be part of her life. Jan also loved her career as a bank teller in New Windsor and enjoyed the many customers she served who became a part of her large circle of friends.
In 1999, Jan and George moved to Myrtle Beach, where they could enjoy their retirement on the many golf courses with many loving friends.
Jan is survived by her husband, George of Myrtle Beach, daughter Deborah Hamel (Michael) of Vermont, son Douglas DuBois (Susan) of MA, grandchildren Jennifer (Chris) Jarvis, Robert Hamel, Nicole and Alec Zgrodek, Steven (Ana) DuBois and sister Dorothy Harring. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; Chelsea and Michael Jarvis, Mary Presley DuBois. Jan was predeceased by her daughter Brenda Zgrodek, granddaughter Mary Catherine DuBois Reddan, her parents, sister Gertrude Infinger, brothers Kenneth Ramstrom, Stanley Phippard
Arrangements and cremation are being provided by the Myrtle Beach Funeral Home, 4505 Highway 17, Bypass South, Myrtle Beach. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, May 4, 2013 between the hours of 2 and 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Salvation Army or to Mercy Care Hospice, whose compassionate staff provided Jan and her family all the support they needed so she could be at home for her final days.
