JACKSONVILLE, Fla. | Mary E. Dawson, 80, has passed away. She was born May 26, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pa.

A longtime resident of southwest Philadelphia, she and recently deceased husband, Burton, retired to S.C. in 1985 after owning and operating the Mary E. boutique and fashion consulting business for 15 years.

She had lived in Jacksonville, Florida since 2001.

Mary is survived by sons, Bernard and Michael Stockman; daughter-in-law, Carol Stockman; sister, Florence Miles; brother, Charles O'Connor; grandchildren, Carol Jannotti, Jennifer Colfer, Michele and Melissa Stockman; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kelly, Alexa and Shane Patrick.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2006 in Ponte Vedra Valley, a family owned funeral home and cemetery located at 4750 Palm Valley Road, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, (904) 285-1130.

Dear Bernie and family,
I was so sorry to read about the passing of your mother. We didn't know her for that long, but she was in the room at Cypress Village with my mom, Sally, for a week. (we met you on your visit) I enjoyed talking with her and she was very good for my mother. We were all sad when she ended up going back in the hospital. I did call on and off to check her status. I prayed that she would make it north to be closer to her family, because that was all she wanted. I am sorry she didn't make it, but now she can be wherever she wants to be and finally at peace. She will always be in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. I will always remember her in my prayers. God bless you all and take comfort in knowing your mom was an inspiration to everyone she met.

I will miss my Aunt Mary very much.
She was always the glamorous aunt with such style! I loved the Mary E boutique and remember how she always had a boutique in the house (well before the time of her store). What fun as a child to go shopping in the Mary E store - Avon, clothing, jewelry, make-up, accessories (and everything was free)!

I had not known Mary E. that long, but she was very dear to me. I enjoyed the time I spent with her and Burt in Myrtle Beach as well as time spent with them in Jacksonville, FL.
