Robert Thorpe Obituary
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH | Robert J. Thorpe, 82, of Timber Ridge Village, North Myrtle Beach, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at his home. Mr. Thorpe moved to North Myrtle Beach from New Jersey in 1982.
He was on born Aug. 9, 1922, in Union City, N.J., a son of the late Frank W. and Elva Hill Thorpe. He was a U.S. Army Veteran with Combat Engineering.
Mr. Thorpe is survived by a son, Robert J. Thorpe Jr. of North Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Christene McCarthy of North Bergen, N.J. and Nancy Hammond of Middle River, Md.; a brother, Herbert Thorpe of Tucson, Ariz. and two grandchildren, Nancy Helbourg and Marc McCarthy. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Haring Thorpe.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Timber Ridge Village Clubhouse.
