Marthalyn "Marty" D. Smith of Streator passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the age of 71, with her loving family by her side. She was born February 6, 1951, the daughter of Gerhard "Bud" and Sophia Hinrich.
Marthalyn married Jerry W. Smith on April 8, 1967, in Morris, just recently celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. Together they raised their two children. She loved children, and this encouraged her to write various children's books. Marthalyn was creative and wrote beautiful poetry, loved to dance and enjoyed sewing, crafting, and painting ceramics. She loved her family greatly, and her puppy, Midget Marie. Marthalyn was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma and will be greatly missed.
Marthalyn is survived by her loving husband Jerry and daughter Kerrie Smith and son Dale (Theresa) Smith. She was a grandmother to Sean (Brittany), Elizabeth and Luke, and great grandmother to Bryson.
She is preceded by her parents.
There will be no services held at this time. Aqua cremation rites will be accorded.
