Mr. Albert Johnson Mr. Albert Johnson went home to be with the Lord September 24, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Albert was 82 years old and the husband of Leta Mae Gibson Johnson. He was born October 6, 1930 a son of the late Alma Johnson and the late Harisson Martin. Mr. Albert made a career in the United States Army and served in many parts of the world. He served during the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam War and was the first person to carry the American Flag thru the Panama Canal. He received many awards and honors before retiring after 23 years of service to his country. After retiring he served as the Bus Supervisor for the Horry County School District and has been very active in the American Legion where he served as Commander for many years. He was a Gideon, Mason and a member of the VFW. Mr. Albert was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities including the Trustee Board. He spent lots of time visiting the sick. Mr. Albert loved to fish and invite friends over for a fish fry. He was predeceased by three brothers, J.B. Martin, Luther Martin, Clifton Martin, three sisters, Grace Harper, Elizabeth Munzo, and Juanita Mole. Surviving in addition to his wife Mrs. Leta Mae Gibson Johnson of the home are three sons, Jimmy Johnson (Audrey), Joey Johnson (Lorra), Al Johnson (Mattie) all of Galivants Ferry, two daughters, Diane Shaw of Galivants Ferry, Cyndi Mohr (Joe) of Little River, two sisters, Daisy Johnson of Charleston, Virginia Lofton of High Point, NC, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one sister in law, Lottie Cook of North Charleston and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday September 26, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 27th at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Watts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made in Mr. Albert Johnson's memory to the Gideon's for the purchase of new Bibles, PO Box 98 Aynor, SC 29511. Sign an online guestbook at www.johnsonfuneralhomeofaynor.com.
