Alvin Alexander Shaver, a devoted father and an inspiration to many, passed away peacefully on November 1 2024, in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by his loving children. Born on July 16, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, Alvin embodied the spirit of hard work, love, and resilience throughout his life.
From the tender age of 15, Alvin dedicated himself to his career with an unwavering work ethic that lasted nearly until his last breath. He was not just a provider, but a planner, always ensuring the well-being of his beloved family. As a proud veteran of the Marines, he carried the values of discipline and bravery into every aspect of his life, teaching his children the importance of strength, responsibility, and love.
Alvin was a man of remarkable character, often referred to as an "old soul." His cool, calm demeanor was a source of comfort to those around him. He was fiercely protective of his family, instilling in them the importance of unity and support, and always expressing his pride in raising a beautiful family. His sons, Brian (TJ) and Brandon (Tyler), and daughters Brittany (Joseph), Breeauna (Chad), and Aleah, remain as testaments to his greatest accomplishments, cherishing the values he infused into their lives.
Beyond his family, Alvin had a penchant for leisure activities that brought him joy. Alvin was an avid shopper and getting the best deals always brought a smile to his face. He loved watching football, comfortably settled in his chair, and had an unyielding passion for everything related to cars. Bowling was also a favorite pastime, moments spent with family and friends filled with laughter and camaraderie.
A man of faith, Alvin was known for his consistent presence at church. This commitment not only strengthened his own beliefs but also laid the foundation for his family’s spiritual growth. Memories of him attending services will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Alvin was predeceased by his beloved wife Gwendolyn, his cherished daughter Tammi, his parents Lela and Lucious, and his sister Brenda. Their memories remain part of his legacy, reminding his family of the love that still surrounds them.
He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A graveside service to honor Alvin's life will be held on November 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
Alvin Alexander Shaver was more than a father; he was a cornerstone of strength, love, and resilience in his family. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his children and all whose lives he touched.
