Alvin Ralph Sutton Sr.

Alvin Ralph Sutton Sr., age 90, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at his childhood home in Goodlettsville, TN surrounded by his loving family.
Alvin was born on October 23, 1932 in Sumner County, TN to the late George Ollie and Lura Alice (Ralph) Sutton. He attended Hendersonville High School. Alvin served in a Telecommunications Unit in the US Army during the Korean War. He also worked as a yard Foreman at Nashville Electric Service for 33 years. After retiring, he went back to school, earned his CDL, and drove a semi truck for Little Debbie's Bakery. He felt a lifelong calling to preach and carried his calling out at Shallowford Pentecostal Church. Alvin enjoyed playing the guitar, singing all manners of silly and serious songs, talking about the Lord, and riding horses.
Alvin is survived by his wife of 18 years, Donna (Kimbrell) Sutton; children: Cyndi Caron, Alvin Ralph Sutton Jr., George Ollie Sutton II, Mina Martin, and Amy Lynn Sutton; bonus children: Christine Ozanne, Ashley (Shane) Carroll, Raymond (Celeste) Melton, Anthony (Amanda) Melton; siblings: Peggy Hall, Fay (Pete) Smith, Alice Thompson, Jim Sutton; grandchildren: Justin (Amy) Caron, Tabitha (John) Casilli, Shane (Megan) Sutton, Lura Alice (Chad) Corbett, Tyler (Madeline) Caron, Dillon Meyer, Violet (David) Robb, Kristen (Greg) Crow, Blake Sutton, Alec Gibson, Hunter (Ellen) Sutton, Kristopher Evanoff II; bonus grandchildren: Devin Ozanne, Aleigha Ozanne, Hannah Garcia, Baylee Carroll, Chelsey Carroll, Monica Carroll, Aubrianna Melton, Emma Melton, Henry Melton, Maryann Melton, Allen Melton; great-grandchildren: Cloie, Owen, Makenna, Braelyn, Abree, Elliot, Adley, Sylar, Ember, Jasper, Sutton, and Bishop.
Alvin was preceded in death by siblings: Effie Edna Sutton, Kenneth Sutton, and Georgia (Sutton) Ray; children: Timothy Sutton and Tami Sutton; a bonus child: Chris Garcia; and a grandchild: Nicholas Lambert.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25th at 1:00 PM at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville with Pastor Jeff DeWees and Malcolm Patton officiating. Interment will follow the service at Beech Historic Cemetery with Justin Caron, Shane Sutton, Tyler Caron, Dillon Meyer, Ollie Sutton and Eric Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Sutton, Todd Brown, Jeff Thompson, David Robb, Blake Sutton, and Hunter Sutton. Visitation with the family will start at 10:00 AM. Pastor Jeff DeWees and Malcolm Patton will officiate Alvin's 1:00 pm service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Alvin's name to Beech Church at 3216 Long Hollow Pike, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
