Anna Marie Johnston, born March 31, 1941, in Detroit, MI, to the late Lewis and Susan Kolar, died on September 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newell Ray Johnston and brothers Albert Kolar and James Kolar.

She is survived by her children Roxanne Birchfield, Gordon (Helen) Baril, Susan Bobb, Bob (Loraine) Baril, Sandy Woodard; stepchildren Cindy (Gary) LaCasse, Michelle (Rod) Patterson, Sandy (Rick) Burgess, and Steven (Carolyn) Johnston; brother Joe (Angie) Kolar and sister-in-law, Dorothy Kolar and many nieces and nephews. She was the proud grandmother of Canelia Williams and Lucas Purvis; LeSue (Robert) Tindell, Dominic Baril and Rosemary Baril; Rachel (Kevin) Lambert, Stacy (Ryan) Tull, Christina LaCasse and Olivia LaCasse; Renee (Andrew) Shaum and Alex (Juice) Baril; and Jerred Metcalf and Jordan (Fred) Kimball and 14-1/2 great grandchildren and her beloved cat, Glovsie, as well as Ray's 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Ann was a homemaker until the kids grew up, then she went to work as a food service manager. She loved to entertain. She tended to her roses and was very proud of her flowers. She enjoyed baking, cooking, puzzles, and cats. Ann worked tirelessly for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was the past president of the former Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW Post 6691, in Frazier and a life member of the Post. She volunteered at the Veteran's Hospital in Detroit doing various jobs.

There will be a Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00am at St Bernard Catholic Church in Bella Vista, AR. Mass will be preceded by visitation at 9:00am and the Rosary at 9:30 am. She will be interred at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Clinton Township, MI. Memorials may be made to the Fraser VFW Post 6691 Auxiliary.
