Anne Gwynne Goodwin, 80, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her home.
A funeral service to honor Anne’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 18th at Broad Creek Church of God, officiated by Rev. Robbie Strickland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The interment will be held privately at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through their obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Anne was born on August 23, 1943, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Charles and Maycie Lockey. A skilled hairdresser by trade, Anne had a talent for making others feel beautiful and confident. Anne’s home church, Broad Creek Church of God, held a special place in her heart. She was a devoted member, finding joy and faith in her community.
A proud fan of Duke Basketball, Anne was always ready to cheer on her team. Her love for her family was boundless, and she found immense happiness in just spending time with them. She was especially proud to be a native of Carteret County, where she built a life full of love and laughter. Anne loved singing and listening to music along with playing the piano. Anne will be deeply missed by her friends and family and remembered for her love and kindness.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia Darrow (Brad) of Newport and Dee Dee Carson (Joe) of New Bern; son, Dennis Quinn (Tawnya) of Newport; and grandchildren, Katie Carson, Luke Darrow, Julia Quinn, Charles William Bayer, and Noah Darrow.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hailey Garner.
