Bertha Mae Lowdins Eaglin was born April 11, 1952 in Lafayette, LA to the late Osborn and Julia Lowdins. She departed this life peacefully at the age of 71 on Tuesday morning, November 19, 2024, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, sisters and nieces.
Bertha gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She attended Bethune High School in Welsh, LA. Bertha never met a stranger. She brought joy to everyone who knew her. She loved music and dancing. Her loving spirit will definitely be missed by all. She enjoyed word puzzles and watching In the Heat of the Night, and Walker, Texas Ranger.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved children, Vera Stewart (Brian Keith), Latisha Lowdins, Brandon Lowdins, Derrick Lowdins, George Lowdins, and Harold Lowdins, all of Jennings, LA; sisters, Retha Talbert of Lake Charles, LA and Judy Charles (Paul) of Jennings, LA; 17 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; Godchild, Santrell Lowdins; 2 nieces that she adored, Torey Ethridge and Kierra Lowdins; she enjoyed being in the company of all her nieces and nephews; a long time best friend/cousin, Calvic Prudhomme, "Cabbage", like she would call him; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Julia and Osborn Lowdins; 1 daughter, Julie Bennette; 1 son, Dominique Lowdins; 5 sisters, Roberta, Mary Lee, Carolyn, Hilda, and Ruby; 4 brothers, Abra, Thomas, Preston, and Roger; and 3 grandchildren, Jerrell, Javon, and Trenisha.
