Mount Olive - With profound sorrow and empathy, the management and staff of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors join with the Jones and connected families to announce the earthly departure of Ms. Bette Hill Jones, 75. Mrs. Jones transitioned at UNC Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC.
Bette Jeanne Hill-Jones, 75, transitioned from Earth to glory on Monday, February 03, 2025, at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Duplin County on October 24, 1949, to the late Edwin Roscoe Hill Sr. and to the late Ola Mae Hobbs-Hill.
Bette attended Duplin County Schools where she met and soon after married the late Franklin L. Harvey. To this union, five children were born. She later met and married Billy Cornell Jones in 2004, where she was blessed with three bonus daughters.
Jeanne, as she was affectionately called by her family, was born the third of thirteen children. She loved her family dearly. She was known to be a woman of very few words when she wasn't quite familiar with someone, but whenever time was spent with her sisters, other close relatives and friends, she would have a lot to say.
Bette had such a sweet spirit and a great temperament. It took a lot to make her upset or angry. During conversations she would rather sit, observe and be slow to speak. She was never known to complain. If she was asked how she felt, she would always proclaim she's doing well, but if you knew otherwise, she would always explain, "I just don't want to complain,"
Her hobbies included: Watching classic movies and before her health failed, she enjoyed sewing, arts & crafts, drawing, decorating and gardening. Almost all of these were taught and passed on to her children.
Bette gave her life to the Lord. At an early age she attended her family church, Burning Bush Holy Church in Faison, NC. After her first marriage, she became a member of Moses Chapel D.O.C. Church in Faison, NC and she would occasionally attend St. Mark Freewill Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, with her husband, Billy, until the time of her death.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Franklin L. Harvey, Jr., two sisters; Dorothy Aycock and Nancy Green and a brother, Calvin Hill.
Bette leaves to cherish her memory and legacy with her husband of 20 years, Billy Cornell Jones of Mt. Olive, NC, four daughters; Beverly A. Harvey of Woodbridge, VA., Francine V. Harvey of Kinston, NC, Cozette Harvey-DIckerson (Steven) of Garner, NC and Shonnee Harvey-Robinson (Quinton) of Garner, NC, three bonus daughters; Shanika Raynor-Jack (Lamont) of Atlanta, GA, Jasmine Jones of Mt. Olive and Jessica Jones of Warsaw, NC, four sisters; Carolyn Gomez of Fayetteville, NC, Edith Adkins (Timothy) of Fayetteville, NC, Vonnie Neyhart of Manhattan, Kansas and Valerie Williams of Faison, NC, five brothers; Edwin R.
