Betty J. Landers, Age 91, passed January 18, 2022. A Memorial Service celebrating Betty Landers's life will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at White's Funeral and Cremation Service's Chapel. Service will be livestreamed below beginning at 3:00 pm.
Betty J. (Thomas) Landers was born February 8, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio to her parents Earl Thomas and Jane (Thomas) Byrd. She was the youngest of four daughters: Lillian, Irene and Christine. Betty quietly departed this life late Tuesday night on January 18, 2022 at Mount Carmel East Hospital.
Betty attended Columbus City Schools where she met and later married the love of her life, Nathan Leo Landers and from this union six daughters were born: Jackie, Sandra, Barbara, Cynthia, Christine and Robin. Later, she furthered her education while employed with Ohio State University Hospital. She received her certification as a Nurse technician. She was a dedicated employee and enjoyed her job because she loved helping others. During her employment with the Hospital, Betty held various positions in several departments until she later retired.
Betty loved her family, she was a devoted wife and mother. She often put herself aside to make sacrifices for her family and others. She always helped to take care of sick family members in their time of need. She was creatively busy decorating, sewing, knitting, crocheting, she made a variety of ceramic figurines and she was a collector of teddy bears.
Betty was a faithful long standing member of Bethany Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Jonathan William Bradford, Sr.. She loved and was loved by her church family, whereas she was a faithful choir member until her health failed.
Betty is preceded in death by husband, Nathan Leo Landers; daughter, Sandra Stokes; sisters, Lillian Morris, Irene Davis, Christine Cheeks; sister-in-law, Gerri Landers; brother-in-law, Wayman Landers; parents Earl Thomas and Kanes and Jane Byrd.
She left to cherish her memory: her loving daughters, Jackie Landers, Barbara (Michael) Jackson, Cynthia Landers, Christine Landers, and Robin (Willis) Shepherd; niece Carolyn (Grady) Pettigrew, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
