Connie Sue Wicks, 81, of Richmond, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at The Springs of Richmond in Richmond.
Born September 23, 1941, in Richmond, she was the daughter of Claude Lamar and Pearl Louise (Swallow) Mullin. She married Ronald Wicks on September 4, 2009, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death.
Connie worked as an EMT for St. Vincent Jennings Hospital and had worked 38 years as a Phlebotomist for St. Vincent Jennings. She had also worked as a crossing guard for North Vernon Elementary and at Kentucky Fried Chicken in North Vernon and the former Regal Rugs. Connie was also the operator for the Sportsman Club in North Vernon. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Richmond, former member of the First Assembly of God in North Vernon, the Sportsman Club in North Vernon, and Ducks Unlimited. Connie enjoyed singing karaoke, playing bingo, and shopping.
Survivors include her son, Herschel Johnson (Joyce Byers) of North Vernon; daughters, Charlotte Johnson (Marvin Stewart) and Sherrol (Billy) Watson, both of North Vernon, Shelia (Randy) Lequire of Seymour, and Heather Johnson of Versailles; stepsons, Kenneth (Jennifer) Wicks of Richmond and David (Gazel) Wicks of Florida; stepdaughter, Pam (David) Cusher of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Michael (Paula) Mullin of Middletown and John Mullin of Largo, Florida; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Herschel "Bill" Johnson; second husband, James Stone; third husband, Ronnie Wicks; brothers, Larry and Claude "Bud" Mullin; sister, Linda Jones; and great-grandchildren, Geoffrey Bumblough and Marcus Driver.
The funeral service for Connie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Westport Cemetery in Westport.
Memorials may be made in honor of Connie through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc.
