Daniel Paul Box

Daniel Paul Box passed away peacefully May 12, 2024 in Chico CA
Dan was born on March 30th, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to Elsworth and Frances Box. Dan was one of nine children and shared many childhood memories of them growing up. The family moved to California in 1952. It was in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 15 that Dan got his 1st job working at a nursery. At the age of 17, Dan met the love of his life, Marilee and they were married in 1957.
They had three wonderful children before moving to Chico CA in 1970, where he opened his own business, Box Brothers Nursery.
Dan was steadfast in his love for Jesus and his family. In his younger days he enjoyed fishing, bowling, working on puzzles, and most of all working in his yard, or if you were one of the lucky ones, helping landscape your yard.
His true passion in life were plants, and he built a successful business working alongside his wife and two sons.
Most of all, Dan was a devoted and caring husband who loved spending time with his wife, Marilee.
They spent many weekends at his cabin in Lake Almanor with friends and family, and spent many summers in their pool with their grandchildren.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife, son (Danny), and great grandson.
Dan is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, son, daughter in-law, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
Charitable donations in Dan's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Associationin care of Brusie Funeral Home.
A celebration of Dan's life will be held at 10a.m. on Saturday, June 8,2024 at Grace Community Church in Chico.
