Donald "Shane" Hotchkiss, of Lusby, MD, and formerly of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away January 24, 2025 at Washington Hospital Center, surrounded by family.
Shane was born on January 17, 1962 in Washington, D.C. to Hubert Adams Hotchkiss and Agnes Patricia DeGrasse Hotchkiss. He grew up in Hillcrest Heights and Waldorf. Those who had the honor to know Shane, know he was the epitome of a hard working, loving, caring man. He worked for the International Union of Operating Engineers for decades before retiring about 10 years ago. There weren't many things he couldn't fix and he seemed to always have a project in the house that he was working on. In true Maryland fashion, Shane spent his free time wisely - hunting, fishing, eating crabs, watching football, and, most importantly, spending time with his family. His daughter and grandson were his absolute world.
Shane is survived by his daughter Shaina Hotchkiss Posey, son-in-law Ty Posey, grandson Landon Posey. Lifetime love and best friend Monica. Siblings Mike Hotchkiss (Barbara), Ann Powell (Nick), Paul Hotchkiss (Karen), Pam Gasch, and Joann Freeman (Eddie). Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving parents "Hotch" and "Pat" Hotchkiss, brother Timothy Hotchkiss, sister Mary Fritter, and many other beloved family members.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Shane's life on Saturday April 26, 2025 at the Wicomico Shores Clubhouse in Mechanicsville, MD.
