Donald E. McGowan

Donald E. McGowan, age 89, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Wollaston and Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday June 7, 2022.

He is the beloved husband of Margaret (Mathieson) McGowan of 65 years. He was a Veteran in the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He is the loving father of Maureen Donlan and her husband Peter of Plymouth, Stephen McGowan and his wife Laurie of Plymouth, Julie Carragher and her husband Brian of Braintree, Mark McGowan and his wife Theresa of Plymouth, Patricia Sexton and her husband Richard of Braintree, and Michael McGowan and his wife Kerry of Gilford, CT. Cherished brother of Richard McGowan of Norfolk, VA and the late Claire Nugent and Marie DeAngelis. Devoted Papa of Meaghan, Colleen, Caitlin, Brian, Matthew, Brendan, Caroline, Sean, Mollie, Patrick, Daniel, Nolan, Andrew, Ryan, Redempta and Great Papa to Jackson, Giuliana, Gannon, Elijah, and Norah. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Don adored his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a devout Catholic and his faith was very important to him. He enjoyed reading, playing sudoku, watching the Red Sox, and traveling, He also loved living on Manomet Beach in Plymouth. He was an electrical engineer at the Foxboro Company for 35 years and spent the last 5 years of his career living in Singapore with his wife Margaret. He was known for his intelligence, quick wit and a man who had a zest for life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will be held at Manomet Cemetery in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name may be made to the St. Joseph Food Pantry, 2704 33rd Ave, W. Bradenton, FL 34205.
