Donna Mae (Miller) Brown, age 92, of
Atlantis, FL and
Concord, MA, formerly of
Lexington, MA, passed away on August 4, 2023.
She was born on October 22, 1930 in Manchester NH, to parents Edward and Pauline (McGee) Miller.
Donna married Otis S. Brown, Jr. on August 19, 1950. Prior to retirement, they raised their six children in Lexington. They enjoyed golfing and extensive traveling within the U.S., Canada, and overseas. Particularly memorable were trips to the Caribbean, Panama Canal and Alaska with the family.
An avid golfer since age 12, Donna won many golf tournaments. She was the Lexington Golf Womens' Club Champion for 14 consecutive years, from 1980 through 1993. She held the Course Score for Women for decades. Donna was an active player right up until the onset of her recent illness, often beating the much younger players in her group. She also shot 10 "Hole-in-Ones" in her lifetime!
Donna was an active member of her community. She was a Candy Striper. She taught Sunday school at the Hancock Congregational Church in Lexington, was a Town Meeting member, and a Board member and past President of her local chapter for the Florence Crittenton Home for Unwed Mothers. She supported every Lions Cub event, including the food trailer, ticket sales, and the 4th of July Carnival.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Otis, in 2013, their baby daughter Susan (deceased at birth), grandson Waylon Brown, and sisters Janet Sellars and Jane Conners. She is survived by six children: Otis and Jane (Frazer) Brown of Mechanic Falls, ME; Kyle and Ken James of
Concord, MA; Dale and Kelly Domings of Dudley, MA; Mark and Lisa (Hall) Brown of Harvard, MA; Kerry and Frances Togneri of Turner Falls, MA and Lee and Susan (Skerry) Brown of Tewksbury, MA. She is also survived by sisters Patricia Millican and Joan Sosha, 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends will gather for visiting hours on Friday, August 18th from 3 to 6 pm, concluding with a memorial service beginning at 6 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Private burial will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord.
Donna supported many charities during her lifetime. She requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any of the following organizations:
