Dorothy White "Dot" Joyce

Dorothy White "Dot" Joyce, of Tallahassee, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022. She was comforted by her loving husband and children. She was born on June 14, 1942, in Hosford, Florida, and was the daughter of Leon and Stella White.
She was more than ACTIVE throughout her life. She was a current member of the Tallahassee Garden Club, Buttercup Circle, and the GFWC Woman's Club of Tallahassee, serving as past President and was the Parliamentarian at the time of her passing. She worked tirelessly to help support her family and devoted her life to the service of others. When asked "besides your own family, what was your favorite accomplishment in life?" She replied it was her appointment to two Florida state-wide offices: Director of State Division of Elections & Director of State Division of Hotels and Restaurants.
While Dot was a gifted and generous public servant, her life was her faith and her family. She is survived by a wonderful husband and life partner, William Arthur Joyce, Sr. to whom she was married for almost 59 years. They had two beautiful children, William Arthur Joyce, Jr.
(wife Betsy) and Andrea Joyce Majors (husband Tim). They also enjoyed two adorable grands: Beth Ashley Joyce and Will Joyce. Dot was preceded in death by her parents, and six brothers and sisters.
Earlier this year, Dot was the Guest of Honor at a family reunion in which "she got what she deserved." That would be an outpouring of the love and admiration of a grateful extended family.
A celebration of Dot's life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Tallahassee on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM to be followed by a graveside service at MeadowWood Memorial Park on Timberlane Road.
