Duane D. Pfeifle, 83, of Wahpeton, ND, and formerly of Ashley, ND, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023.
His funeral service will be on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:30 AM, with visitation one-half hour before the service, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashley, ND, with burial to follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Duane was born on the family farm near Danzig, ND, on September 4, 1940, to Arthur and Ida (Iszler) Pfeifle. He grew up near Ashley where he attended school until the 8th grade. He then began farming with his family. On November 15, 1964, Duane married the love of his life, Jean Marzolf, and the two welcomed three children to their union: Kelly, Kevin, and Karla. The family lived on Duane’s family dairy farm until the fall of 1991, when they made the move to Wahpeton.
Duane worked various jobs after moving to Wahpeton, including Primewood, Sigco, and Dakota Magic Casino. He enjoyed tinkering with things and fixing them up. He especially enjoyed restoring tractors, woodworking, camping, going to the lake, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His love for animals. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club and was active in the Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen’s Association and the Rosholt Area Threshermen’s Association.
Surviving Duane are his children: Kelly (Carson) Kouba, Regent, ND; Kevin Pfeifle, Breckenridge, MN; and Karla (Dan) Kraft, Wahpeton, ND; eleven grandchildren: Kayla (Zachary Wojahn) Kouba; Kyle (Bridget Lee) Kouba; Thaine, Cody, Dale and Kristina Pfeifle; Brooke (Sean Hildebrand) Kraft; Kaitlin (Caleb) Motley; and Megan and Macy Kraft; great grandchildren: Jaylynn and Cayden Kouba; Teigan, Deziray, and Preston Wendlandt; Amelia Kraft; and Akryn Kouba; and step great grandchildren: Ryker Cole, Raelynn Christensen, and Aurora Lee. Three greats to arrive in 2024.
Preceding Duane in death was his wife, Jean; his daughter, Carol; his parents; his brother, Jerome Pfeifle; and his sisters, Elda Thurn and Joey Dodd.
