Edith was born September 11, 1942, in Middletown DE to the late Thomas Nathaniel and Mary Francis Henry. She departed this life on Tuesday February 13, 2024, at Christiana Care surrounded by her family. "Edie" as she was affectionately called by loved ones and friends, received her early education in the public schools of Middletown, Delaware. She graduated from Louis L Redding Comprehensive High School.
Edith worked for Leeds Travel Wear and Hercules as a Lab technician for over 20 years until her illness.
Edith enjoyed cooking, entertaining her family and extending her hospitality to anyone that stopped by. On any given Sunday you could eat a good meal while she told stories about her childhood and growing up in Middletown. Edith was known for her contagious laugh. One of her favorite things to say while telling a funny a story was "I thought I would crack!"
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime companion James Alfred Tiller and siblings; Lydia Henry, Elizabeth "Libby" Elliott, Andrew "Leo" Henry, Maurice "Jabo" Henry, Florence Henry, Alma Henry, and Thomas B Henry.
Edith leaves to cherish her memory two sons Kerry (Phyllis), Parish (Barbarette). One sister Pauline Portlock, Five grandchildren Kara Henry, Tommara Bias, Tanisha Bias, Alexis Henry, and Alexander Henry. Nine great-grandchildren Joshua LaBranche, Skye Queen, Bryson Queen, Marley LaBranche, Jaceiona Johnson, Quadir White, Chance LaBranche, Chandler LaBranche and Ty'Aisha Henry. Devoted nephews Lemuel Elliott, Corey Henry, and Kevin Wright who was like a son. Three devoted friends Evelyn (Ev Mae) Raison, Dorothy Monroe and Audrey (Kitty) Walker. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
