Edward James Baker

Edward James Baker, age 66, of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Thursday March 30, 2023, at his home in Hamilton, New Jersey.
Ed was born December 31, 1956, in LaGrange, IN to Donald Baker and Esther (Huber) Lunger. He graduated from Bronson High School in 1975.
Ed owned and operated several auto body repair shops throughout his life in Southwest Michigan, including Concept III Auto Body in Mendon and Eddie's Collision in Sturgis. Ed also was the editor of the Mendon Activator newspaper for several years. He enjoyed drag racing and NASCAR, classic car restoration, home improvement projects, and in retirement became an internet rock and roll DJ for Masterz Radio ("DJ Eddo"). Ed enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and time spent with all of his family members. Ed was cheerful and always quick with a joke, his unique booming laugh will be unforgettable, and always had sound advice for those needing it.
Ed is survived by his children, Eric (Kelly) Milliman of Ceresco, Heather (Emmanuel) Oti of Fort Wayne, IN, Edward (Jessi) Baker II of Lansing, Adam (Lily Anthonette) Baker of Eaton Rapids, and Bryan (Grace Ann) Baker of Kings Park, NY; sisters Donna (Jim) Myers of Orland, IN, Marilyn (Lewis) Lukazcek of Coldwater, Marge Baker Sprowl of Marquette and Judy (Darrel Klinger) Dixon of Bronson; grandchildren Alyssa (Wyatt) Scott, David Milliman, McKayla Milliman, Tristan Barnett, Lilah Barnett, Xander Barnett, Lexi Starks, Luna Baker, Peter Baker, Miles Baker, Lucas Baker, Austin Baker and Bryce Baker.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald Baker and step-mother Edith Baker, mother Esther Lunger and stepfather, Leo Lunger; and his brothers Kenny Baker and Charles Baker.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 12th at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating the life Edward Baker will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 13th at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Siler will officiate. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the charity of one's choice.
