Eileen Boyle Obituary

Published by Eaton Funeral Home on Sep. 14, 2013.
Eileen Boyle, mother, grandmother, healthcare professional, and lover of all vibrant colors associated with gardening, and décor, died Saturday, September 14th, 2013. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Kelly Hale of Needham, Massachusetts, and her son, Brian Boyle of Los Angeles, California. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Madeline Hale, Sam Hale, Lucy Hale, and Jacqueline Boyle. She is also survived by her former husband, Stephen Boyle of Arizona. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, and the sole child of Fred and Nora Kaiser, Eileen was the first in her family to earn a high school diploma and college degrees. She graduated from Brookdale Community College, New Jersey with an Associates of Science in Nursing and years later from Emmanuel College, Boston, MA, with a Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling. Her degrees and determination established roots of over 30 years in the healthcare industry, starting as a staff nurse at Riverview Hospital in Red Bank, New Jersey and concluding as a Case Manager at Newton- Wellesley Hospital. She advocated for the rights of nursing professionals and served as a Floor Representative and Negotiating Team Member for the Massachusetts Nursing Association. Holidays with family, tradition, and a sense of place, were important to Eileen. Throughout her life, she amassed a large collection of Christmas tree ornaments, and decorating her tree during the holidays was a joy and source of great pride. When entering her home, it was a major infraction to not pay homage to her Christmas tree – a miscue that would warrant visitors to be redirected back to her tree for proper adoration. Although she held permanent residence in Sharon Massachusetts, she was a frequent summer visitor and one time homeowner in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard. There, she loved wading into the still surf of State Beach on hot summer days, having drinks on the front porch of the Harbor View Hotel, and being a vocal spectator at the Annual Fourth of July Parade in Edgartown. She relished spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends especially on Martha's Vineyard. She also loved Kauai, the ocean, warm weather, and her nightly splashes of Chardonnay. Eileen was active in sports such as tennis, running and golf. She was an avid sports fan who personalized all outcomes of Red Sox and Patriots games. Eileen's candid disposition, hearty laughter, soft spot for the underdog, and inability to walk softly past rooms of sleeping family members, are some endearing qualities that will be missed by friends and family alike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage St. in Sharon on Thursday, September 19th at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. Interment is private.

Kelly and Brian,
When I tried to call your mother today and her phone was disconnected, I feared the worst. She and I shared so many happy times since Brian and Doug became friends, that I can't believe she's gone. My deepest sympathy to you both.
