Ella Mae BECK

Ella Mae Beck the daughter of John and Ella F. (Thomas) Bruck was born June 9, 1923 at Lost Island Township, Iowa and departed this life on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 88. After graduation from Ruthven High School she went to UNI and then was a teacher in Story City, Iowa. She came back to Spencer, Iowa and on January 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Roy Beck and to this union was born one daughter, Shirley. Roy and Ella Mae moved to a farm northeast of Ruthven. Ella Mae was a teacher in the country school in Vernon Township. In 1961, she recieved her teaching degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Ella Mae taught school at Ayrshire, Emmetsburg and Spirit Lake. Ella Mae loved to play cards and loved gardening, especially her roses. She was a member of Palo Alto Garden Club and Lost Island Lutheran Church and Bethel Lutheran Church. Left to cherish Ella Mae's memory are her husband, Roy of Graettinger; daughter, Shirley Loring and her husband, Frank of Emmetsburg; two grandchildren, Janelle Loring of Spencer and Michael Loring of Emmetsburg; one great grandson, Timothy Godinez Loring; one sister, Marjorie Bruck of Graettinger and one niece, Linda LaPointe of Rye, Colorado. She has been preceded in death by her parents, brother, John and sister, Frances. INTERMENT Lost Island Lutheran Cemetery rural Ruthven Iowa
