Harriet Shain Evenson died in Fairfax, Virginia the morning of January 29, 2025, after a long illness. She was born October 18, 1930, and raised in Wilmington, NC. Harriet resided in Arlington, Virginia the majority of her life, where she and her husband were a part of the Arlington school system.

Her deceased parents were Solomon and Mary Braunstein Shain. The loves of her life were her deceased husband, Jerome "Jack" Evenson and her deceased son Alan Michael Evenson. Additionally, Harriet was predeceased by her brothers/sister-in-law Jerome Shain (Elsie Shain) and Robert "Bonnie" Shain. As well, she was predeceased by her in-laws Sam and Rebecca Wolfe Evenson, brother-in-law, Norman and sister-in-law Janet Rabunsky Evenson.

Harriet is survived by two nieces, namely Roselle Evenson Margolis and Debra A. Evenson and their adult children.

Funeral graveside services will be held at B’nai Israel Cemetery, 307 North 18th Street, Wilmington, NC 28405 on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 12:30 PM. After the internment, Shiva will take place at B’nai Israel Synagogue, 2601 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC 28405. No flowers, please. Donations may be made to B’nai Israel Synagogue Cemetery Fund or The Sunshine Committee 2601 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC 28405. May the memory of Harriet Shain Evenson be for a blessing.
