Helen M. Abel

Helen M. Abel, 91, native New Mexican, born in Springer, NM, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010. Helen's parents, Richard and Margaret MacKaron came to the United States in the early 1900's from Syria and Lebanon. Helen is survived by husband, Clinton N. Abel, children, Patrick and Ellen Abel, Phyllis and Steve Suttle and Janie and Ed Thomas; grandchildren, Mike Skaff, Steve Skaff, Tom Skaff, Angela Duran, Brian Abel, Jeffrey Abel and Katie Thomas; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and one on the way; sisters, Virginia Nassif, Florence Bird and Adelle Joseph. She was preceded in death by her brother, Philip MacKaron and her oldest daughter, Sharon Buchanan. Helen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and sister. She was married to her husband, Clinton from Washington, DC for over 67 years. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2010, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Service will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at French - University.
