Holly Nance Obituary

Holly Ann Nance a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend past Sunday July 16th, 2023. Born November 4th 1956 in Carthage, TX loving daughter to Edward Denton Halvorson and Mary Zell Holland.

Holly was the natural family leader, excelling in every aspect of life because of her passionate intensity and never-ending love expressed and felt by all. Her loyalty and extreme protectiveness to her children made her Mama Bear, do not mess with her cubs was a phrase heard many times. She was best friend and devoted wife to Larry Ray Nance of 24 years in which the love shared could be seen when they floated across the dance floor.

Being highly intelligent, head strong and hard-working Holly had 43 years of a very successful career as a Defined Contribution Retirement Industry Professional with expertise in managing administrative functions and in-depth expertise in qualified employee defined contribution benefit plans. Results oriented, with proven track record in daily operations. Consistently evaluated as superior in functional and supervisory performance. Successful manager and team builder with outstanding record of client satisfaction and retention. Dedicated and committed to absolute quality in all aspects of job responsibilities.

Holly worked hard and played just as hard. Enjoying the precious moments shared with her family, always finding time and excuses to get everyone together. In the time not spent with family was filled with the hobbies she shared with her husband. She had a competitive spirit which was apparent in her pool shooting and playing shuffleboard both on a competitive level. Qualifying for or simply taking part in tournaments across the country.

Preceded in death by her son, Shawn Walker Brannon; mother, Mary Zell Halvorson; father, Edward Denton Halvorson; Sister, Sherriel Kaye Halvorson; Nephew, Christopher Lee Cantwell; Aunt Jo McCormick of Dallas; Maudeen Peters of Fairplay; Uncle Royce Holland of Frost and grandparents, Gilbert & Lucy Holland.

Survived by husband Larry Ray Nance and three daughters; Alicia Lynn Garrod husband Ryan Michael Garrod; Melanie Marie Brannon; Amanda Marie Smith and husband J.T. Smith; Grandchildren, Layton Ray Nance; Cheyenne Elizabeth Mahurin; Coltyn Wayne Mahurin and Dakota Zell Brannon; Uncles, Mitchell Holland and wife Darla of Tyler; Aunts, Elizabeth Ruth Jordan of Fairplay, Dottie of Frost as well as many cousins in Texas & Louisiana.

A visitation for Holly will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A reception will occur Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal service will occur Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
