PASTOR HOMER LANE PRINTUP – Age 71, was the 5th child born to the union of the late Joann Evans Sanders and S.B. Printup on May 29, 1951. He was educated in the Bartow County School System and graduated with the Cass High School Class of 1969. Homer proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. He was further educated at Coosa Valley Technical College and Rainbow Bible College. Homer was employed at Chemical Products Corp for 30 years. He was an electrician by trade; however, he also worked as an appliance repairman. Homer's ultimate and most rewarding job was as a repairman of human souls, as he dedicated much of his life to preaching and teaching the gospel and leading others to Christ. He wholeheartedly believed and was often heard quoting, "He that hath an ear, let him hear." Homer was very passionate about the souls and the salvation of others. For years, he taught Sunday School, ministered, and ultimately pastored at Queen Chapel Independent Methodist Church.
In his spare time, Homer enjoyed bowling, and he was an avid golfer. He was a member of a bowling league and president of the Prime Time Golf Association. Homer was a bridge in the community, where he mentored youth as a former little league baseball coach and parent supporter of the local Girls Scout Troop. He was a prayer warrior who was committed for many years to ministering at a jail ministry, a long time member of the Northwest Georgia Prayer Band, member of the Black Clergy Association of Bartow County, and he's recognized on the Kingston Veteran's Wall. Homer donated to various local charitable organizations.
Homer was most proud of his children; he loved his family!
Homer was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hull Printup; parents, Joann Evans Sanders and Billy Sanders, and Spencer Byron "S. B." Printup; and siblings, Brenda Smith, Phillip Printup, Spencer Printup, and Vontella Printup Weathers. He is survived by his children, Darrell Wise (Stacey), Linda Burks (Reggie) both of Rome, GA, Mark Williams of Kingston, GA, Corey Wiggins (Jennie) of Cartersville, GA, Tracy Ayers of Dayton, OH; Hometta Printup, Vanity Printup, Raven Printup, and Jamila Printup all of Cartersville, GA; and Jaquantas Printup and Nevaeh Printup of Kingston, GA; 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cathy Printup, Wendy Linley(Tommy), London Smith (Weuka) all of Kingston, GA; & Elizabeth Printup of Calhoun, GA; aunts, Linda McDaniel of Calhoun, GA and Annie Bell Sanders of Kingston, GA; sister-in-law, Mary (Mose) Adams of Lyerly, GA; brother-in-law, Michael (Joyce) Hull of Coosa, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow clergyman, and a multitude of friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Sunday, February 12, 2023 at 2:00 P. M. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 147 Jones St, Cartersville, GA 30120, with Pastor Louise Young Harris, Eulogist and Pastor Gordon L. Wells, Officiant. Interment, Queen Chapel Cemetery. What can I say? Homer was Homer and a wonderful neighbor. Each morning, before the bus picked up Nevaeh, he would sit in his car at the end of the driveway; he did so to ensure that every kid outside waiting could get in and warm up.
All the nearest neighboring kids, like Adrian Arnold and Hadley Roach, regularly piled up in his car.
Mr. Homer unfailingly spoke with the kids about what was right and what was wrong, and He then would lead them in prayer before sending them off for their school day. Mr. Homer has done a great deal for all community members, and he is and will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with Miss Nevaeh now, considering she loved Homer so much. He was Nevaeh's safe place. I can't imagine how hard this must be on her. Our prayers also go out to the family. We would have liked to pay our respects to Mr. Homer, but we were unaware of anything before Saturday, February 11, 2023. If anyone needs anything, let us know what we can do to help. It's not something we say. If we can help with anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Respectfully, Rodney and Nicole.
