Jerry Lamar Rice, age 83, of Gainesville, Georgia was called home to be with his Lord on September 25, 2023. He was surrounded by his family when the Lord called his name.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mr. Rice was born October 30, 1939. He was the son of the late Thomas Tate Rice and Gertie Mae Crane Rice. Lamar married his high school sweetheart Carolyn Wade on October 5, 1957. They were blessed with 65 years of love. Lamar was employed by Gainesville Machine Company and retired from Stork Gamco with a total of 45 years between the two. He was also a member of the Poultry Federation Round Table. He and Carolyn are members of Lakewood Baptist Church.
Lamar was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Lamar Rice; and brother-in-law, Alan Wade.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Rice; son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Sonia Rice; granddaughter and husband, Caitlin and Richie Fearn; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Kim Megahee; nephew and wife, Matt and Elizabeth Simmons; nephew and wife, Scott and Ashley Simmons; nephew and wife, Charles and Mallie Scott; sister-in-law, Jean Wade; niece and husband, Lauren and Chas Brookes as well as a number of great nieces and nephews.
