JOHN MCDONALD Obituary

McDONALD, John F. Of Brookline, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 26, 2025. Loving husband of Shirley J. (Flanagan) McDonald of 55 years. Loving father of Jay and Rachel McDonald of Plano, TX, David and Pam McDonald of Weare, NH, Beth McDonald of Brookline, MA and Jane and Brent Sakowski of Lucas, TX. Beloved and proud "Grumpy" of Jack, Joshua, Madison, Ava and Ryan. Brother-in-law to Linda and Eddie Keaveney; and nephews, Brian and Michael Keaveney. Best friend to his beloved loyal pup, Riley. Predeceased by his parents, James and Mary (O'Connell) McDonald; and his siblings, James and Margaret McDonald. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Veteran of the Army National Guard, Brookline Police Officer for over 44 years and fan of all Boston sports teams. He will always be remembered for his gift of gab, sharp wit and devotion to his wife, family, friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in honor of John and his pup, Riley, to Angell Animal Medical Center, 350 Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA. Services are private.
