Joseph Jules Romer

Joe, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 10, 2017. He was born in San Francisco on November 12, 1936 to Jules and Lena Zuffi Romer. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and University of San Francisco. He married the love of his life, Lucy Mifsud, on June 28, 1958, and they raised their seven children in South San Francisco before retiring to San Mateo. For those who knew him, his passion for life, family, politics and his Catholic faith will be sorely missed. Survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Lucy; children: Christine Campello, Greg (Kay), Marc (Brenda), Pamela Harnett (James), David (Rochelle), Jeffrey (Kirsty) & Larry; and 18 grandchildren: Courtney, Sierra, Aubrey, Laura, Colin, Glenn, Ashlee, Justine, Olivia, Jacob, Ryan, Dominic, Sebastian, Nathan Romer, Travis Johnson, Noah & Natalie Harnett and Aaron Campello. Visitation begins at 7pm followed by a Rosary at 7:30pm on Thursday, June 15th. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, June 16th. All services will be held at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 28th & Hacienda St., San Mateo, CA. Inurnment at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, please honor Joe with a contribution to St. Jude or Food for the Poor.
