Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 29, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Pastor Mark Griffin officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday, November 28, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Joy was born November 28, 1938, in Belton, Texas, to Wesley and Betty Privette. She spent her entire career as a mother and grandmother and as a healthcare professional in the Central Texas area. Joy was a life long learner: graduated from McLennan Community College with an AAS in nursing, then pursued a BSN from Prairie View A&M and graduated in 1981, took graduate courses from Texas Woman's University and University of Texas at Arlington. She graduated from the University of North Dakota's Physicians Assistant School and was currently more than half complete with a Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Joy was truly a caring and compassionate nurse, working for Providence Health Center in the role of ICU staff nurse and nursing supervisor; and the VA Medical Center, for 25 years in the roles of staff nurse, nursing educator, nurse manager/supervisor and physician's assistant. After retiring in 1997, she worked in rural health care in West, Marlin and Goodall Witcher in Clifton. Joy had a passion for teaching and molding individuals to be the best nurse that they could be, and she fulfilled this passion in her last nursing position as faculty in the McLennan Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Lilliard Willey Dyer; son, Charlie Dyer; great granddaughter, Heather Rose; and brother, Kenneth Bankston. She is survived by her daughters, Jann Wienecke, Jill Dyer, Joan Beltran and husband, Joe, and Sharon Dyer; sons, Lillard Dyer, Jr. and wife, Connie, Darrell Dyer and wife, Catrina, and Robert Dyer and wife, Lovena; grandchildren, David Ray, David Alan, Brianna, Morgan, Kayla, Jennifer, Branden and Destiny; and great grandchildren, Hailee and Devin; sisters, Doris Hill and husband, Marvin, Billie Yohe and husband, Bennie, and JoNell Menard and husband, Pat; and several nieces and nephews.
