Joyce A Bramhall

Joyce Ann (Nugent) Bramhall, aged 77, passed away on February 19, 2024, at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Joyce's legacy is lived through the lives she touched.
She was passionately devoted to her family.
Daughter to the late Sally and Ralph Nugent of Springfield, Massachusetts, sister to Patti Nugent of East Longmeadow and the late Phyllis Brown.
Joyce moved to the Boston area shortly after graduating from high school and met the love of her life, Frederick Bramhall in 1972. The two were inseparable from the first. They married in 1975 and in 1979 moved to a house in Sharon which they would call home for the next 42 years and in which they would raise their son, Jeffrey.
Joyce and Fred shared a true partnership of equals. Joyce's passionate nature brought vibrancy to Fred. Fred's consistency gave Joyce a foundation to blossom. Their love of one another was the center of gravity around which their home revolved.
As a mother, Joyce strove to help Jeff find his way in the world and supported him unwaveringly. She felt deeply proud of Jeff and loved his wife, Lodrina, as her own daughter.
She was a kind, compassionate, and fun friend.
Joyce was there for anyone who needed it. When she said her heart went out to someone, it really did. She was also joyful. She was quick witted and thoughtful and she loved to laugh. She and Fred, along with a small handful of others, gathered nearly every Saturday night to spend time enjoying one-another's company.
She was a vibrant member of her community.
Joyce was a beacon of light in her over forty years at the Unitarian Church of Sharon. She was a key part of the spiritual community and its quest for justice. She relished the opportunity to learn from a diverse array of teachers: religious, spiritual, and otherwise.
She was intensely proud of her professional achievements.
Her career as a Respiratory Therapist spanned four decades including over twenty years at Norwood Hospital where she helped countless patients and mentored generations of new RT's. Always courageous and willing to take on a new challenge, she returned to college later in life. The house in Sharon echoed with the sounds of a dot matrix printer as she completed her Bachelor's degree at Lesley College in 1994.
She saw creative possibilities everywhere she looked.
She always had a project (or five) going. Collage, quilting, flag-making, cut-paper, flower-arranging, or watercolor - the medium didn't matter. Any piece of cardboard could turn into an art project.
Joyce's memory is best served through service. She would want you to find a way to make your part of the world into a kinder, more compassionate place. And she would believe that you are capable of doing that, whether or not you believed you could. She would want you to find a light within yourself and let it shine.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 6th at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Church of Sharon. 4 N Main St. Sharon, MA 02067.
