Edward J. Barry Jr., 71, of Canton, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 12, 1954, in Boston, MA, Edward was the cherished son of the late Edward Sr. and Helen Barry. He grew up in Milton and went on to build a life marked by dedication to his family, a passion for sports, and a successful career.
Edward's life was a testament to his strong values and work ethic. He was a proud graduate of Milton High School and later continued his education at UMASS Amherst and got his degree from Curry College. Edward's academic achievements laid the foundation for his accomplished career as a sales executive at a leading software company, where his leadership and charisma made him a respected figure in the industry.
In 1995, Edward married the love of his life, Nancy F. Barry, and together they raised three wonderful children in Canton, where they have been residents for the last 30 years. Edward was a devoted father to Elise Sullivan and her husband Kevin Sullivan of Canton, Joseph Barry of Canton, and Shawn Barry of Canton. His guidance and love will continue to influence Lennon for years to come. Edward's role as a grandfather to Lennon Sullivan was one he cherished deeply.
Edward's love for his family was paralleled only by his love for sports. An avid sports fan, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams with the same enthusiasm he devoted to every aspect of his life. He took immense joy in coaching youth soccer and never missed an opportunity to support his children in all their sports endeavors. His presence on the sidelines was a source of encouragement and pride for his family.
He was a dear brother to David Barry of Plymouth, Ann Dailey of Quincy, and Shelia Kearney of CohassettEdward's impact extended beyond his family, as he was also a cherished friend to many. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was one of his most notable traits.
Edward's life was one of purpose and joy. His unwavering support for his family, his commitment to his career, and his passion for life's simple pleasures were the hallmarks of a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
As we say goodbye to Edward J. Barry Jr., we celebrate a life marked by love, laughter, and an enduring spirit. His memory will be a beacon of light for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
