Patricia Ann "Pat" (Consolati) Whitney, of Braintree, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully in Weymouth on October 18, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 13, 1943, in Springfield, MA, Patricia was the daughter of the late Francis and Ruth (Moriarty) Consolati. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip Barry Pickering, with whom she shared many cherished moments and fond memories.
Patricia's life was a testament to her loving nature and her ability to touch the hearts of everyone she met. She was the loving mother of Barry "Tub" Pickering and his wife Christine of Braintree. Although she faced the heartbreaking loss of her sons, Michael Whitney and John Thomas Whitney, her strength and love never wavered. Patricia was also the devoted sister of John Consolati and his wife Maureen of Toronto, Canada, Catherine Consolati of Connecticut, Karen Holt and her husband Craig of Newburyport, Elizabeth Geller and son Jackson of California, and she held dear the memory of her late sister Sue-Ellen West. Her role as a cherished Grammy to Breanna Pickering brought her immeasurable joy, and she will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
A proud graduate of Milton High School, Patricia went on to leave an indelible mark in her professional life. For over 40 years, she was the dedicated seafood manager for Stop & Shop Supermarkets. Her career was not only important to her, but she also excelled in her field, with Stop & Shop recognizing her talents by choosing her to open new stores and ensure their successful operation. Upon her retirement, Patricia left behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and the highest standards of excellence.
Patricia's passions were as rich and varied as her life. She was a vivacious reader, always eager to explore new worlds and ideas through the pages of her beloved books. Family and friends were the cornerstone of her existence, and she cherished every moment spent in their company. Her travels often took her to the beautiful shores of Hawaii, where she visited her cousins and basked in the warmth of both the sun and her family's company.
Her second home in Dennisport on the Cape was a haven of happiness, where she loved to soak in the seaside serenity and entertain loved ones. The beach was a source of endless joy for Patricia, as were her culinary adventures, whether dining out or creating "Kitchen Magic" in her own home. Her famous chocolate chip cookies were a testament to her talent and generosity, a sweet reminder of her nurturing spirit.
Patricia's legacy is one of unending love, kindness, and generosity. Those who knew her were touched by her warmth, her welcoming heart, and her innate ability to make everyone feel special. She lived her life with grace and left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to meet her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, October 29th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree.
