Anna C. (McNaught) Gilfillan, of Braintree, formerly of Scotland, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 89. Born on July 26, 1936, in Glasgow, Scotland, Anna's life journey was marked by her loving nature, her dedication to family, and her ability to create warmth and joy in every life she touched.
The daughter of the late Henry and Annie (Evans) McNaught, Anna was the cherished wife of the late Arch Gilfillan. Together, they forged a life filled with love and mutual respect. Her legacy continues through her son, Scott Gilfillan, and his wife, Marissa, of Franklin, who will forever hold her in their hearts. Anna's spirit will also live on through her adored grandchildren, Gavin and Brennan, who knew her affectionately as "Gran."
A devoted sister, Anna is survived by Irene Reese of OH, and she joins her late siblings Henry McNaught and Kathleen Good in eternal rest. Her loving nature extended to her nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends, all of whom felt the warmth of her friendly and caring soul.
Anna was a woman of many interests and talents. Her hands were rarely still, as she was a gifted seamstress who could turn fabric into beautiful garments and home creations. She found solace and joy in the pages of books, the paths she walked, and the garden she tended with such care.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Anna will remember her for the loving, kind, and friendly presence she was in their lives. As we bid farewell to Anna, we celebrate the life of a woman who was the very embodiment of love and friendship. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared, the meals cooked, and the flowers that bloom each spring, reminding us of the beauty she brought into the world. Anna's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light in their lives.
At the request of the family, all services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada St #201, Newton, MA 02460.
