Frances Carmela (Novio) Benner, of Hanson, formerly of Braintree, known affectionately as Fran by her loved ones, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 100, on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, after a wonderful life. Born on September 20, 1925, in Braintree, Massachusetts, Fran was the daughter of the late Saverio and Teresa (DiGregorio) Novio. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication, love, and joy that touched the hearts of everyone she knew.
Fran was a proud graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1943. Her work ethic led her to a successful career as a key punch supervisor for Northeast Airlines and General Dynamics.
Family was the cornerstone of Fran's life. She was the loving mother of Wayne Benner and his wife Maureen of Braintree, Donna Walsh and her husband Robert of Hanson, and Donald Benner and his wife Susan of Marshfield. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, guiding her children with a gentle hand and supporting them through every endeavor.
Fran's love extended to her siblings, being the devoted sister of Michael Novio of Braintree and Gloria Harris and her late husband William of Brockton. She held dear the memory of her late brother Francis Novio and his wife June Novio of Middleboro. Her family circle was wide, and she was the cherished Grandma to Jennifer Bartkow and her husband David, Michael Benner and his wife Bridget, Joseph Kaplan and his husband Sean, Matthew Benner and his wife Erin, Robert Walsh and his wife Michelle, and Daniel Benner, and Great Grandma to Jack, Kayla, Riley, Cameron, Logan, Blake, Sophia, Emily, Westley, Mariella, Adelaide, and Gwendolyn. She also left behind many nieces and nephews, as well as her late loving companion William Holbrook.
Fran's interests illuminated her passion for life. She recently celebrated her milestone 100th birthday, surrounded by family and friends, in a testament to the love and respect she inspired in others. Her happiness was found in the simple pleasures of life-baking delicious treats, traveling to new places, enjoying dinners out, and completing puzzles. Fran eagerly anticipated her annual birthday trip to Wells, Maine, a tradition that she cherished deeply.
Those who knew Fran will remember her as the embodiment of love and kindness. Her gentle spirit and unwavering care for her family and friends will continue to radiate in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Fran's legacy is one of unconditional love and the quiet strength that binds a family together through the generations.
As we say goodbye to Frances, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be forever cherished. Her memory will continue to be a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her.
Relatives and friend are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 6th, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM in the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 7th, at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Burial will follow in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
