George Edward Billotte, Jr., of Braintree, formerly of So. Boston, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on August 2, 2025, after a courageous battle, at the age of 70. Born on July 6, 1955, in Boston, George was a beacon of love and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and community service. George was the son of the late George E. Billotte and Barbara A. (Curran) Curry, and he carried their spirit of love throughout his life.
George's devotion to his family was unparalleled. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Dillon) Billotte, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. A loving father, George was a guiding light to his children, Nicholas Billotte and his wife Caitlin of Weymouth, and Danielle (Billotte) Grant and her husband Brendan of Holbrook. As a devoted brother, he shared an unbreakable bond with Brian Billotte and his loving companion Susan A. Skahan of Quincy, Barbara Ann Sullivan and her husband David of Holbrook, and he lovingly remembered his late brother Gary Billotte. George's role as a cherished Grandpa to Maren, Julian, Kinsley, Weston, Delilah, and Dallas was filled with joy, laughter, and endless spoiling. His extended family of nieces, nephews, sister-in-law Judy Billotte of Scituate, and friends will miss his generous spirit and warm heart.
George's commitment to education was evident in his achievements. He graduated from Boston English High School, Class of 1973. After graduating from High School, George enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. After returning from his military duty, he went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from UMass Boston. His pursuit of knowledge continued as he earned his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Anamaria College. These academic accomplishments paved the way for a distinguished career in law enforcement.
For 37 years, George served the Boston community as a Police Officer for the Boston Police Department. He was stationed in Area C in South Boston from 1986 until his retirement in 2020. He loved his job as a police officer and took great pride in serving as the Community Service Officer in South Boston for many years. His dedication to the community was reflected in his involvement with the Boston Police Patrolman's Association and his commitment to the PAL Program. George dedicated countless hours and volunteer work with the special needs children and young adults of South Boston over the years.
George's interests and activities were as diverse as they were passionate. He was a dedicated Braintree Girls softball coach, sharing his love of the game and fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. A longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, he taught CCD and inspired faith in the younger generation. An avid Boston sports fan, George's enthusiasm for the Red Sox and the N.E. Patriots was infectious. His weekly "Choir Practice" with the guys was a cherished tradition and a testament to his enduring friendships.
Above all, George's love for his family shone brightest. He was the epitome of a loving, kind, and generous soul. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be a guiding light for generations to come.
